About the Conference

A landmark platform bringing together key stakeholders from power generation and cement manufacturing to tackle industrial waste management challenges

Tackling India's Industrial Waste Challenge

The CEE National Waste Management Summit & Awards 2025 serves as a crucial platform bringing together power generation and cement manufacturing industries to address one of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time. With over 86.35% of India's thermal power capacity produced from coal, the urgency for effective waste management has never been greater.

Our conference aims to bridge the gap between power generation companies and cement production companies by spotlighting innovative strategies and sustainable practices. With over 80% of coal combustion by-products comprising fly-ash, and approximately 217 million tons of fly-ash released annually, the need for collaborative solutions is paramount.

The summit focuses on transforming thermal power generation waste into economically beneficial materials while minimizing environmental impact. By bringing together industry experts, we strive to devise better utilization methods that convert power generation waste into wealth products that are both economically feasible and environmentally sound.

Waste To Wealth At Thermal Power Generation Sites

Fly-ash and gypsum are the two main components generated as by-products of power generation at thermal power plants. Both products have the potential to be used as profitable resources.

FLY-ASH MANAGEMENT APPLICATIONS

Cement and Concrete for Construction

The Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC), made by utilising fly-ash, can replace regular cement. Fly-ash enhances concrete strength and is recommended for infrastructure construction including roads, bridges and buildings.

Bricks for Construction

Environmentally friendly bricks made from fly-ash are more durable, lighter and stronger. This reduces environmental impact from tree cutting and clay quarrying.

Land Reclamation and Soil Quality Improvement

Fly-ash possesses soil improving properties for land reclamation of low-lying areas, landfills and abandoned mines. It improves soil texture and enhances fertility in agricultural areas.

Pavements and Road Construction

Fly-ash improves soil compaction and reduces construction costs in pavement construction. When mixed with aggregates, it forms a solid base for road construction, limiting conventional materials like sand and gravel.

GYPSUM WASTE MANAGEMENT APPLICATIONS

Cement Production

Using power generation gypsum reduces natural gypsum demand and production costs for cement companies. As a setting retarder, gypsum prevents cement from hardening quickly, controlling concrete curing time.

Plaster and Drywalls Manufacturing

Gypsum boards made from FGD-generated gypsum are widely used in wall and ceiling construction.

Agricultural Applications

Gypsum improves soil structure and water infiltration while providing essential calcium and sulfur nutrients, making it valuable for farming, especially in alkaline soils.

Environmental And Economic Impact

The environmental and economic impact of using fly-ash and FGD gypsum is limitless. It enables waste reduction while reducing disposal costs through environmentally harmful methods. It helps reduce the carbon footprint of the power generation industry, garnering significant government and industry support.

The CEE National Waste Management Summit & Awards 2025 aims to discuss strategies and share valuable insights to bring about a seamless shift from disposing power generation waste to more useful methods that are both environmentally and economically beneficial.
